Vehicles for change
The fundamental change initiative rides forward on the backs
of several potential vehicles for change. These
vehicles consist of policies, practices, programs, events,
structures, and assignments that already exist within the
organization or that can be created and then used as means
for planning and implementing the desired change. Some
examples of the vehicles for change that can be used follow:
- Human resource policies regarding staffing and compensation
- Staff development and continuing education programs
- Performance reviews and career development
- Budgeting processes and operational planning
- Board or management team retreats
- Total quality management programs
- Anniversary dates and celebrations
- Coupling culture change with the need for a new information
system
- Technical processes of one or more functions needing
updating
- Newsletter or other media programming
- Regular team meetings
- Industry-wide recognition and awards programs
